Business persons with high net-worth who are willing to invest in Portugal maybe eligible to obtain conditional residence status in Portugal (none formally known as the Golden Residence Permit- a derivative programme of the Authorization for Residence by Investment matrix) within 6 months from the date of submission of the complete application.

An Applicant is expected:

Please consult with ACIC on the amendment to the Portuguese law, that was passed on February 12, 2021, where important changes to investment options will take effect on January 1, 2022. 

    • Capital Transfer with the value of One Million and Five Hundred Thousand Euros or more.
    • Establishment of a business and the creation of a minimum of 10 full time jobs.
    • Purchase a property for the value of 500,000 Euros or more in an approved area, pay the property transfer taxes and the application costs.
    • Purchase of real estate that was constructed 30 years ago or more in an approved area. If you wish to exercise this option, you must also refurbish the property. The total value of the property and refurbishment must be no less than 350,000 Euros.
    • Transfer of Capital for the value of Euro 500,000 to invest in research activities conducted by private or public entities that are involved in the Portuguese scientific or technological system.
    • Transfer of Capital for the value of Euro 250,000 for investment in the artistic output of Portugal or the reconstruction of the national heritage.
    • Capital Transfer for the value of Euro 500,000 for the acquisition of shares in an investment fund or a venture capital that is aimed at developing small and medium sized companies.

    Residency requirement after attaining the Golden Residence Permit – ARI is a very convenient 7 days/year (for year 1), 14 days for years 2, 3 and 14 days for years 4,5.
    After the elapse of year 5, the resident may apply for Portuguese Citizenship. Should the holder of the residence permit, choose to apply for Permanent Residence of Portugal, they may do so after the elapse of year 5, pending that they meet the Permanent Residence requirements.
