1.  General

ACIC Inc. is a limited liability incorporation registered in the republic of Seychelles under the International Business Corporations Act. Its registered and Head Office Address and principal place of business is at Unit 117, Orion Mall Building, Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles. ACIC’s counsels are authorised and regulated by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants "CICC". The terms of use set forth on this page govern both electronic, verbal, written and in person communications with ACIC Inc., its staff, principals and associates.
In relation to those ACIC Inc.  practices which are corporate bodies, whether limited liability partnerships incorporated in the republic of Seychelles or elsewhere, we use the word "partner", on this website and generally, to refer to a member of the limited liability partnership or a shareowner or director of the other corporate body or in either case an employee or consultant with equivalent standing and qualifications. Confirmation as to the member/share owner/director status of a partner practicing through a corporate body can be provided on request.

3.  Ethics and professional standards policy

ACIC Inc. is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards. These apply to all members of our team, regardless of role, and to all our offices. ACIC Inc. team members are required to act professionally and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and regulators rules.
These ethical and professional standards include:

  • Acting with integrity, professionalism and fairness
  • Acting in the best interests of each client, including providing a proper standard of service to our clients
  • Upholding the rule of law and the proper administration of justice
  • Behaving in a way that maintains the trust the public has in the provision of legal services
  • Maintaining our independence

ACIC has rigorous internal policies intended to help its team members comply with these standards and with relevant laws and regulations.

4. Anti-Corruption statement

ACIC Inc. has no tolerance towards bribery and corruption. We are committed to:

  • Conducting business in a manner that complies with applicable laws and is consistent with the highest ethical standards including, among other things, standards intended to prevent bribery and corruption, and
  • Using our best endeavours to ensure that those who perform services for and on behalf of ACIC Inc.  – including employees, contractors, foreign counsel and agents – are aware of and share our commitment to conducting business ethically.

ACIC Inc. is subject to the Canadian Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act of 1999 and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in respect of its activities throughout the world and has adopted an Anti-Corruption Policy, which has been endorsed by its senior management. The policy is based on an assessment by ACIC Inc.  of the external and internal bribery risks that face us, and reflects fundamental standards that ACIC Inc.  expects those who perform services for us and on our behalf to abide by when acting on our behalf.
ACIC Inc.  will not use third parties or intermediaries to engage on its behalf in unethical practices that would be prohibited under any applicable laws if undertaken by ACIC Inc. ACIC Inc.  expects that all third parties and intermediaries that it engages will conduct themselves accordingly when acting on behalf or for the benefit of ACIC Inc. ACIC Inc.  is committed to transparency on its ethical standards and anti-bribery initiatives and has established procedures that are described in our Anti-Corruption Policy to encourage employees to report instances or allegations of policy violations.

5.  Data privacy

6.  Anti-money laundering policies and procedures

Our anti-money laundering (AML) policies are generally based on the highest standards that are required in the jurisdictions where we operate, and apply in relation to all of our business in all of our offices all over the world. We conduct client background checks and due diligences on each new client and persons connected with them. We also place our clients on an ongoing screening system that alerts us if an existing client has committed an act that is considered illegal. Where necessary for these purposes, we seek relevant information from third party data suppliers. Where individuals have supplied personal data for this purpose we will only use it for that purpose and will keep it only as long as the relevant AML and data protection legislation requires.
The Firm also has internal procedures to ensure that any suspicions of money laundering are reported to the appropriate authorities where there is an obligation to do so. Our counsels and other relevant staff are provided with training on these issues.

7. Human Rights

The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights which were unanimously endorsed by the Human Rights Council in 2011 state that all business enterprises have a responsibility to respect human rights. As a firm we have agreed to support and respect internationally recognized human rights, both as part of our commitment to the UN Global Compact and consistent with the UN Guiding Principles.

8. Communications with ACIC Inc.

We prefer to communicate in writing. We understand however, that due to the nature of our business and the needs of our clients and service providers, a need to communicate via telephone is quite often necessary. We therefore record all incoming and outgoing phone calls for service quality monitoring, training, reference and professional standards preservation. Despite local laws in some jurisdictions, where recording communications may not be permissible without consent of the caller or the person being called; when consent is granted by the caller or the person being called by ACIC, by continuing the phone call, the recording is then deemed conformant to all local laws and statutes. If you are not sure you would like to have your interaction recorded by ACIC or not, we invite you to send a letter or an email with your case / request.

9.  Complaints procedure

ACIC Inc.  is committed to providing its clients with legal advice on immigration matters of the utmost supreme quality.  Any client who is unhappy about the advice and service that it receives from ACIC, including any concerns about a bill, is entitled to complain. A complaint filed with ACIC will receive a response within 5 business days, as decreed by our regulator the CICC (link to www.college-ic.ca).

10.  Professional indemnity insurance

All ACIC Inc.  entities worldwide have professional indemnity insurance cover which is in excess of any local compulsory requirements.
