Canada plans to receive more Immigrants

The Honorable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has announced on Wednesday October 31, 2018 his new immigration plan for the coming three years.

The plan was tabled before Parliament by the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau. The minister of Immigration advised that his chief aim was to combat Canada’s aging population by increasing the number of immigrants to 310,000 in 2018, 330,000 in 2019 and finally 340,000 in 2020.

The Minister of Immigration advised that approximately 60% of the admissions will be for applicants under the Economic class. The economic class is a very diverse class of immigration that has a significant number of programmes. The Specifics of how this new plan will be implemented is yet to be revealed.

It is still unknown if Canada will loosen its requirements and / or criteria that is currently set for Skilled Workers, Entrepreneurs, Investors, or provincial nominees.

The mechanics of this massive plan are of the essence and understanding how Canada will attract global talent remains unknown.
