The Swiss want out!

The people of Switzerland are moving towards a Swiss Exit from the EU, or a “Swexit” if you may. A referendum was held on February 9, 2014.
January 2018, the Swiss People’s Party (UDC/SVP) and Action for a neutral independent Switzerland (ASIN) started the process of collecting 100,000 signatures for a new vote to seal the Swiss borders from European Immigrants influx.

The EU's stance

The EU and its leaders are holding their ground, “all in or all out.”  The people of Switzerland have 18 months from January 2018 to collect the 100,000 signatures for the motion to be considered by Switzerland’s Federal Council.
If the vote is successful, the government of Switzerland’s hand will be forced to break free from the EU block. A potentiality that will impose negotiations with the EU similar to those going on now between the EU and the UK.

If this vote is seen through, the new direction on Immigration will have significant impact on trade, currency and potentially tourism in Switzerland.
